The State has not legalized marijuana and therefore there are some consequences for posessing even small useable amounts. There is no such thing as a personal use exception in Texas.

≥ 2000 lbs 5 years - 99 years $50,000.00

>  1/4 oz - 5 lbs 180 days - 2 years $10,000.00

> 50lbs - ≤ 2000 lbs 5 years - 99 years $50,000.00
> 2000 lbs life or 10 years to 99 years $100,000.00

If convicted you could also lose your driver's license for 6 months. Additionally, possession in a school zone will enhance the punishment range.
